SDSU breaks ground on the One Water Lab (OWL)

In December 2025, SDSU broke ground on the One Water Lab, a hands-on experiential learning and innovation center focused on hydrology, watershed science, and water technologies. CCEE faculty, Natalie Mladenov, Matthew Verbyla, Christy Dykstra, and Alicia Kinoshita have led the development and fundraising for this initiative and were acknowledged at the groundbreaking ceremony, along with College of Engineering Dean Olevsky and Associate Dean Garoma. The One Water Lab is funded through grants from the San Diego River Conservancy.
